Apple Vision Pro - A look into what the future of table top gaming

On a warm and sunny morning, you awaken to a notification from your Dungeon Master - tonight's game is ready, and it's time to create your character. You rise, pour a cup of coffee, and don your headset. The notification catches your eye, and as you tap your fingers, the homebrew app opens, transforming your surroundings from a simple living room to a magical elvish forest. A small fire, surrounded by rocks, begins to illuminate, and you find yourself seated on a log from a fallen tree.

In the distance, a dragon soars across the night sky, its wings creating a thunderous sound that resonates through the ground. With a roar, the dragon breathes fire, casting an ethereal glow upon the surroundings. As it descends in the distance, approaching you, a deep voice resonates, "Well, it's time to create your character, I presume."

A window pops up over the campfire, and you begin selecting your race, class, and customizing your character, witnessing real-time transformations. Your attire evolves from shorts to an epic wizard robe, a staff appears at your feet, and your beard starts to grow. Suddenly, a friend appears behind you, excitedly noting your wizard choice, while they opt for a bard, summoning a lute and playing a tune. "I've got my character all set up; see you tonight!" they exclaim, leaving you pondering the color of your beard.

Prelude:

The Dungeon Master logs into the homebrew app on her Vision Pro, instructs the bot to create an elvish world for her campaign, and uploads the campaign file. The campaign assistant suggests a few changes, and after adjustments, the campaign and characters are ready. Now, it's time for world-building using the Unreal 5 engine, integrating Chat GPT for seamless creation and manipulation of worlds with a simple finger pinch.

Creating a captivating tavern with a mysterious orc, the Dungeon Master issues commands and a quest. Running simulations for tonight's one-shot, she identifies issues and brainstorm new ideas. A quick conversation with her AI assistant implements changes, and the world is reconfigured.

The Dungeon Master uploads the game, making it public for others to modify or play as is. Spotting a highly ranked homebrew game from Critical Role for $5, she adds it to her app, preparing to share it with friends for another night of adventure.

The realm of tabletop gaming and fantasy games is evolving rapidly, fostering creativity and immersion. Imagine casting a fireball against an orc in a realistic-looking world, where Dungeon Masters can set rules and game mechanics are integrated into the app. Tips could guide players, suggesting interesting interactions or informing them of casting limitations. Games could be played at various difficulties, tuned accordingly.

Personally, I am exceptionally excited about the future of D&D with the emergence of new technology, and I hope you are too.
